Mediation services
Tom Carney is certified as a mediator by the Iowa Association of Mediators, of which he is a board member. He has extensive experience mediating for the Polk County Attorney's Office in the fields of Restorative Justice (Victim-Offender) and child welfare. He is also a facilitator for Family Team Meetings for the Iowa Department of Human Services and has mediated between farmers and creditors and between factions of organization boards of directors. Fluent in Spanish, he has mediated dozens of sessions between immigrant parents and their teenaged children at the request of the Des Moines Police Department and the Polk County Attorney's Office.
Certified in 2006, Carney has over 85 hours of specialized mediator training. He has also been a member of the board of the Iowa Association of Mediators since 2006. He can be found on the association's web site at
